The Research, Policy and Higher Education (RPHE) programme at the Aegis Trust invites you to a special event, “The Role of Social Science Research in Today’s Rwanda”, featuring two of Africa’s most prominent social scientists, Professor Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela (Professor and Research Chair for Historical Trauma and Transformation, Stellenbosch University, South Africa) and Dr. Godwin Murunga (Executive Secretary, CODESRIA, Senegal).
The event will take place at the Gorillas Golf Hotel Nyarutarama from 5:30pm – 7:30pm on Thursday, 12 July 2018.
It is co-hosted by King’s College London and SOAS University of London and funded by the British Academy. This event will feature two lectures by Prof. Gobodo-Madikizela and Dr. Murunga exploring the role of social science research in Rwanda and other conflict-affected societies. The speakers will address pressing questions around the role of critical scholarship in shaping policy and tackling the intergenerational legacies of violence, the value of research for communities recovering from mass conflict, and the importance of pan-African networks such as CODESRIA in helping to foster vibrant local research communities.
The two lectures will be followed by a discussion time with audience participants and a drinks reception.
This event is free of charge but please register your attendance through firstname.lastname@example.org. You are warmly encouraged to share this invitation with any interested colleagues.
We look forward to seeing you next week at this exciting and timely event!
